Styling the Burgundy Shawl Tuxedo
Dress It Up
This tuxedo’s warm burgundy tone sets the table with a lot of color, so don’t fight it. A cool, contrasting navy tie strikes the right balance. Keep the look going with desaturated blues, silver accessories, and black patent leather shoes. Pair it all with a crisp white dress shirt for clean finish.
Dress It Down
Sometimes dressing down means more color, but in this case, you still need to stay cautious. Instead, make a pattern play. We recommend this black and white menzies tartan bow tie (also available as a necktie). Coordinate your cufflinks and pocket square accordingly.
Styling the Light Blue Shawl Tuxedo
Dress It Up
This light blue tuxedo contrasts well with black—perfect for dressing it up. We like the texture of our black velvet bow tie paired with the pattern of our leopard pocket square (just to break up the solid scheme). Sleek patent leather shoes round out the look.
Dress It Down
Stripes don’t have to be serious. This bow tie has a festive feel, and the champagne bottle pocket square makes it official. Finish the look with a white dress shirt and a laidback grosgrain loafer.
Styling the Night Sky Velvet Tuxedo
Dress It Up
If you call everything “elegant,” the word loses its significance. This look presents a rare opportunity to bust out the lingo. Ivory tie, white dress shirt, and the night sky—an elegant youniverse, indeed.
Dress It Down
Blue supergiant stars are roughly 10 times larger than our sun, and they violently explode when they run out of fuel. Steal the big look and pair a cool blue tie and pocket square with our night sky jacket. When the drinks run out, don’t blow up—thank the host and exit with dignity.
Styling the Ocean Velvet Jacket Tuxedo
Dress It Up
Call it the “reverse burgundy”—warm-tone accessories (like our wine bow tie and red quad pocket square with a dark fold) pair well with the deep, cool blue velvet jacket. For the canvas, stick with a white dress shirt.
Dress It Down
Way down. A turtleneck is sophisticated, it’s easy, it’s comfortable. It’s just not formal. (You’re dressing this tux down, so that’s fine.) Patterns are great, but have you considered art as an accessory? Test the waters with this pocket square, and slip into this slip-on shoe for even more velvety goodness.
Styling the Onyx Dot Tuxedo
Dress It Up
You can do so much with a black tuxedo—this one just happens to have an eye-catching pin dot motif built in. That gives it one clear advantage over the classic—it looks better with a black shirt.
A black satin bow tie has the flash to match this tuxedo’s lapels, but don’t stop there. Make this look shine with gold onyx button studs, gold texture cufflinks, and a leopard print pocket square. Finish it with classic black patent leather shoes. No one will ever know you spilled on yourself.
Dress It Down
Put this on, click your heels three times, and say “There’s No Place Like The Party.” Deep, punchy jewel tones are always going to look great with a black tuxedo—even one with a subtle pin dot pattern. Add a white dress shirt and you’re not in pajamas anymore.
Styling the Tropical Velvet Jacket Tuxedo
Dress It Up
With a jacket this bold, it’s okay for to keep your accessories simple. Paired with a black satin tie, white shirt, and gold tone metals, our tropical velvet jacket tux feels classic in all the right ways. Add these button studs for a vintage vibe.
Dress It Down
Look closely at the jacket’s tropical pattern and you’ll find a subtle (yet complex) color palette. Here, we’ve selected a few hues to highlight—a pale rose bow tie, a blue-grey pocket square, and brown and khaki leopard velvet loafers. Don’t worry about mixing the jacket and loafer patterns—the black tuxedo pants break the two up for a pleasing combo.
Dinner Jacket + Tuxedo Pants Looks
Three of our holiday collection tuxedos—the onyx dot, burgundy, and light blue—can be styled with solid black tuxedo pants for a dinner jacket look. Otherwise, these tuxedos are paired with pants that match the pattern or color of the jacket. Check out the full holiday collection for more information, but the dinner jacket look is a great alternative that will highlight your jacket.
